Please Tell me I’m not the only one putting out Cookies For Santa.

Well, since I started baking Brownies yesterday in preparation for Christmas, I decided to make some cookies while I was at it.

I’m not usually a cookie baking kind of person.

I just feel like I don’t have the patience for “from scratch” baking, but I am all for packaged cookie mix.

So, I decided to make some Sugar Cookies for my niece and nephews.

Since I’m not one to go traditional, I jazzed them up and went with two batches of regular and one batch of Peppermint Sugar Cookies.

For the Peppermint Sugar Cookies I just added 1/3 cup crushed peppermint to the mix and sprinkled some on top of the cookies as well, after baking.

Now like I  said, I did make two batches of regular and I topped them with Pillsbury Holiday Funfetti icing in Rudolph Red Vanilla and Green as well as the corresponding sprinkles that were included with them.

The only thing I had any kind of issue with is that this dough can be a bit sticky.

I found if you place it in the fridge for a few minutes it goes a bit firmer and is not as messy to roll out and cut, either free hand or with cookie cutters.

All in all, I found these cookies to be super delicious, and I would definitely make them again.

Peppermint Sugar Cookies

Peppermint Sugar Cookies

This is a delicious Holiday treat. The crushed Peppermint really does add a bit of surprise to a traditional Sugar Cookie.

Yields: 21 servings

  • 1 pack Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Cookie Mix
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1 egg
  • *Optional 1/2 cup crushed Peppermint Candies
  • *1/3 cup in mix the rest for topping the cookies

Heat event to 375 degrees (350 for dark/non-stick pans)

Roll dough on floured surface/parchment paper

Place cut out cookies on ungreased cookie sheet 1 inch apart

Bake 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown

Sprinkle crushed peppermint over cookies

Cool 2 minutes before remain from cookie sheet

Store in airtight container

  • Total time: up to 20 minutes
